Tina McBain’s Raconteurs were a very experienced folk duo and played folk clubs, art centre’s, theatres and festivals throughout the UK and have performed at festivals in Bridgnorth, Alcester, Lichfield, Caversham, Wheaton Aston, Bridgnorth, Burntwood, Clitheroe, Heather, Tamworth Folk Moot, Folk on the Farm, They have also over the years supported many of the top folk artists in the UK including Ralph McTell, Fairport Convention, Lindisfarne, The Strawbs, Show of Hands, Bert Jansch, Vin Garbutt, Martin Carthy, Whippersnapper, Julie Felix, Kate Rusby, Chris While & Julie Mathews, Vikki Clayton, Sally Barker, Ian Campbell, Maartin Alcock and one of their biggest ever support was several shows opening for the legendary Bob Geldof.
Tina originally formed The Raconteurs with singer songwriter Jem McAuley. They released an album called Rechante. When Jem departed she recruited singer songwriter Barry Hunt. They produced a fine second album CD 'Pure and Simple' with many songs written by Barry, this album was produced by Phil Bates (ELO Pt2). After Barry departed she then brought in multi instrumentalist former member of The Late Night Band, Andy Bole. This was the last incarnation of the original Raconteurs. Tina & Andy recorded two albums together; one self titled studio album and one live album recorded at Tamworth Castle.
You may be asking that the name The Raconteurs belongs to Jack White (of White Stripes fame) Tina got paid a very healthy sum of money from the White Stripes management for the use of the name. They came to an agreement that Tina would still continue to be able to use the name in the UK as would Jack White’s Raconteurs who would have sole rights to the name in all other territories.
This new incarnation of The Raconteurs features mainstay Tina McBain along with singer/songwriter Eamonn Galbraith and multi instrumentalist Les Jones. They are a trio of talented musicians who have come together to celebrate the magic of folk and acoustic music. With a passion for storytelling through song. Their performances are heartfelt and engaging, thriving on the vibrancy of live audiences. Each member brings a unique flavour to the music, creating an experience that's rich, soulful, and unforgettable.
Tina reformed the band in August 2024, but they do say that good news travels fast. Already they have many shows confirmed for 2025 including several dates opening for Former Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort star, folk pioneer, Iain Matthews on his UK tour in October 2025.
